News: Muse want to “do something radically different”

Disclaimer: I really, really dislike Muse. I dislike their brand of “the world is going to die” rock that they’ve been doing long before The-bloody-Resistance. I don’t like Matt Bellamy’s voice, either. It sounds like he should be narrating audiobooks to song or something.
That said, their bassist, Chris Wolstenholme, has heavily suggested the band are going to “do a Foos” and get all raw and dirty for their next album. Or team up with Lou Reed a la Metallica. Who knows.
What I think they’re going to end up doing is just make their first album again. And that would be a real shame. It’s nice to see bands progress, even if their own “fans” will claim over and over again that their early work was better/rougher/more hardcore than their newer stuff. For all their faults, Muse have made good financial decisions with their latest, radio-friendly record and thanks to that have headlined some pretty big festivals - to say the least - over the last couple of years. I fail to see how that was a bad idea.
…Well, other than the fact they suck.
